Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Cute pic Carolyn! I really like my new RSL chick too! I had no cloe she would be white and red...but she is feathering in nicely, it's very pretty! I was sad waking up to no peepers in the house too, and I had to bundle up and go outside with their wet feed early...I miss having them inside, I just don't miss the smell!

Good Morning All!
It's kind of an "odd" feeling this morning. The house is so *quiet*. No chicks peeping and no grandchildren giggling and running around! I almost miss them.

While I was out taking care of my birds this morning I wanted to take a couple pictures. When I turned to look at the littles I saw Jelly Bean (RSL), who is only 7 weeks old up, on top of the saw horse! That makes her head as tall as the fence!

I was going to use the saw horse to hang the nipple waterer. Well, I'd better find plan B real quick. Those little stinkers!! Since I had the camera in hand I was able to get a quick snapshot.....

So cute!! She looks like she will be a beautiful hen!!

I miss waking up to the peeping too. I do NOT however miss the dust. I think that is worse than the smell.

Let my baby ducklings out to get some sun yesterday
and can't believe the noise from the crows.
They were calling all the Redmond and Bellevue crows over for a party...eyeing my babies!

Good thing the Corgi was circling the birds all this time, like he was chasing his tail, just in bigger circles.

I swear he must have trimmed his nails on the warm asphalt while he was at it too.
Saved me a trip to his groomer. LOL

I have 2 plastic boxes for my ducklings, both lined with plastic shelf liners, then raised a quarter inch from the floor with left over jiffy peat pot liners.
One is for feeding and splashing, the other is for keeping warm and sleeping.
Keeping the feed station separate from the sleeping quarters keeps the smell and mess down at least by 90%.
I hose everything down before dinner time outside, liner and all.
A bottle of Fabreeze helps too. LOL
They eat in the kitchen under the watchful eyes of my dogs, and sleep and play in the man cave.
No sawdust, no sand, no dust. They eat every 2 hrs. Just like babies do. LOL
I am liking this setup.

Down side is I can't leave town.
Picture 1...they are sitting on a marble slab. keeping their fluffy butts warm. Picture 2...Feeding station. Ahhhh LIFE IS GOOD.

Morning Grin

There once was a Rooster named Darrel
who was quite feral

He was a sneaky Pete,
stealing the girls treats

but he stole from the hen Elenore
now Darrel is no more

We went clam digging Sunday instead of Saturday. Weather was very nice.

I think I'm coming down with something. Asthma has been causing me serious issues. I know I've been hitting the inhaler way to much and still can't breathe. I'm going to have to give in and call medical for an appointment.

The 4.5 week old chicks have been abandoned by their mother. They are now sticking to the roosters for help finding food. If they get cold they can go in the coop and snuggle with a broody for a bit. At night they can sleep under any of the adults. Mostly they are out all day playing and eating.
