Now that Saturday is coming up quickly, I was thinking it would be fun to try to see who all are going to be there.

I will be showing up for a little while. I have my oldest son sailing in Portland and being so close to my grandparents, I really feel I should go see them. So the show will be taking a back seat. I want to go see all the birds and give Travis his silkies, but I am not going to be able to just hang for the day like I had originally planned.

About how long should I wait before giving Lucy a chick again? I don't want her hatching eggs or waiting 3 weeks. Last time (10 weeks ago!!

) she was broody for 4.5 weeks and got terribly thin and unhealthy looking. She's sleeping in the nest box for the 2nd night right now and definitely broody, never left the box today silly girl! So, how long? This weekend long enough? Saturday? That's 4 days...

You have to start them out & measure their time in the box, it takes 21 days so, if she has sat 18 days you may be able to give her live chicks....
but do not try & convince older hens, they are smarter than you realize, and will kill the chicks.

I would wait at least 2 full weeks. And do you want to give her another chance? You were disappointed with how quickly she weened them. Maybe you just need to break her.

Honey, blacks are black & have a wee bit of yellow above eyes, & on the belly, blues are the same, but lighter black...AKA Blue.
