Wet will be a problem if it's as bad as you've said. Definitely add lots of ventilation or you're likely to end up with respiratory problems. I'd suggest you read this article in the Learning Center on ventilation. link here

Another issue with wet ground.... it's hard to clean and then it smells really bad.
Are you planning to move the tractor to new ground every day or two? It seems like that would handle some of the wet ground issues. If it's stationary I wouldn't suggest sand. I use sand in my coop and pen. The first winter the pen wasn't covered well and the wet sand was difficult to keep clean. It got pretty yukky and wet sand + cackle spackle = cackle concrete and smells nasty by the time the weather improves. I ended up removing the cackle concrete, covering the run better, and adding more, coarser sand. I still have some runoff from the road behind us so I put a 2x10 plank in their pen, sitting on top of a couple bricks, during the really wet weather. They love it.

Since you're still in the planning stage, if you have the option, I'd suggest making the coop taller and figuring out how to add a door that will make cleaning the inside easy. You can take a peek at my coop to see the doors I have (there's a link on the left, below my avatar). And there are lots of other great ideas if you look at the Coop section in the Learning Center. You have a great start, and free is extra great!

Is anyone expecting a hatch any time after the 26th? I'm looking for something blue, splash, or a really good layer. Try me...Lucy will need chicks around the 28th-3-4th?? ish??? LOL I'm not too picky, but I'm not going to let her be broody for more than 2.5 weeks or so, she's a stubborn one!

I woke up to 3 Chocolate Orps that had hatched!! Also have external pips in 7 Choc eggs and 3 Jubilee orp eggs! So excited for babies!
Very nice! Although! It's sounds like you'll have to many to handle so I'll swing by and pick up all the extras you don't have room for

Crazy news coverage this morning huh? We've postponed school a little while to catch up with what is going on and pray for those in Massachusetts. The kids are drawing pictures and writing notes to those affected. I have no idea if we'll be able to send them anywhere but it's the thought that counts.

the incubator is chirping again! first of the turkey poults hatching over the next few hours. still have abut 150 that have not reached lock down yet, and another 120 comming in to be set latter today.
