So I'm at my sewing machine adding a pocket to an old bra to keep little Shirley in. My husband walks over and asks what the heck I'm doing. After I explained to him he looked at me real seriously rolled his eyes and said Babe. You've gone clucking nuts! Lol. Thinking of changing my user name to CluckinNuts.
So, still fussing with the cold. Obviously pouting that I couldn't do the 4 hr drive to Vancouver
But, my 3 andalusians AND my Cochin rooster all found wonderful new homes yesterday!!! That was a decent good day!
(phonecall, Roo is quite happy with his new gf's and everyone loves him! yay!!!
)
Plus! I now have 18 test eggs in the new incubator! yes, some are evil EE x, but I did also manage to get a couple of eggs out of Cleo (Egyptian Fayoumas)and her bf. See if their offspring are less batty than they are
And I had my kiddo help me get pics before taking off for work to show off our weird Langshan as a group. Just so you all know I'm not crazy, well not completely anyway
Do you realize how hard it is to get 4 chickens all posing how and where you want them at once??!
So the two oddities top, the definite female in the middle and Yule at the bottom, looking as bad ars as ever
2 funny girls left, next to Hoss, now I so get kudo points for getting them to stand still for this
See, was not making up the fact that two look exactly like that weird, huh? Total sweeties though, and my daughter still swears they smell like hens to her as well!
Though she's not as skilled in scratching the screens for such determinations.
I'm sure I'll pester you all after I've put them in the breeding pen so you all know later on if they're laying anything
or if they're just Gods version of Capons
However it goes, Clearly, not going to be part of my breeding program next year
(Edit) OH! I sent someone to get me some DE, they dropped it off and said it cost $20, I said that's about right.. went out to use some today.. it's a 1.5 pound bag
any suggestion on someone in Skagit carrying 40 pounders for reasonable?
Ok, Please torture me with more show pics!! and a shot of that awesome baby carrying pocket when it's done
Depending on the breed, chick health; personally I let them nibble around 3 weeks, but they need to be introduced to chick grit first. and X2 on the post more pics!!!
So the silkie and chicks spent last night inside getting to know each other. I put them in a carrier and took them out to the pen for the important test. The silkie flew out when I tossed scratch but could only convince one to come out so she went back with them. This afternoon she has them out of the carrier and every now and then a chick comes out from under for food. That silkie will get more treats for being good on taking them.
My daughter was taking pictures left and right; I forgot my hearing protectors and by the time I was in the middle of the exhibit floor I had to keep one hand over the ear that got hurt Thursday.
I did photograph these dolls, though: Araucana Bantams have entered my list:
