Hi everyone,
I am new to this thread, and want to introduce myself. I live in Olympia aka Mudtown. A sorta complete overview of my posse:
Porcelain d'Uccles (4 hens, 1 cock)
Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons (trio)
White Japanese Bantams (duo)
Mottled Black and Blue d'Uccles (5 pullets waiting for a quality Mottled or Black cock)
Bantam Phoenix cock named Brewster - he's the best boy with the ladies!
Black LF Cochin cock - who gets to oversee whomever Brewster doesn't
Citron Spangled Hamburg - lost his 2 ladies in the winter cold and wet, but eggs are in the bator hopefully developing!
Big assortment of random cocks who are off to freezer camp, maybe today
Cornish-X chicks - you know where they are headed eventually!
In the bators are Swedish Flowers, Nankins, Orpington ducks, Ameraucanas (sp?) and a few others I can't remember, plus my own eggs
Pilgrim geese
variety of ducks, I love the Muscovy best for their personalities and looks
Narragansett turkeys (2 hens and 1 tom) plus a lone Bourbon Red whom I keep cuz she's pretty and a great layer!
Rabbits! Rabbits everywhere! Zomygosh, anyone want meat rabbits?
I do actually have meat rabbits for sale or trade, with the oldest babies just about ready to go - maybe another week for fryers?
Turkey eggs for sale or trade! Too many to eat/incubate! Help!
Edited to add: I also have Porcelain d'Uccle eggs to sell off and on, when they haven't already been promised.
2 1/2 YO Belgian/QH cross red roan filly "Gaia"
2 of my best friends, "Oliver" and "Harriet", my black cats
A brand new baby puppy "Hank" as in "Hank the Cowdog". Love that series! Anyone with kids or a goofy sense of humor should look for them at the Library. I especially like the tapes as the author reads and he's got a great narrator voice.
Wow, I'm exhausted.....
So, Hi yall!![]()

Whoa!! Busy lady! WELCOME!!!
StumpFarmer, that is so cool that your family has been there for so long! I can only dream of leaving that kind of legacy!
Happy Tuesday peeps!
Ran into FWJ at Reber ranch yesterday. I'm pretty sure they have a sleeping bag and cot for her there someplace![]()
ChickAudie's pollo chateau looks very adorable.![]()
Off to run errands!
Howdiy, coffeekittie, appropriate name for a town with at least four independant coffee roasters!
I'm over in Lacey on a farm where we've lived since the 1890's, and raise Beef Shorthorn cattle. I have Silver Spangled Hamburg, BLRW, and Ameraucana rooster plus EE hens and an Australorp broodie large fowl and a porcelain Barbu D'Anvers pullet who's supposed to get Quail and Blue Quail companions this week.
Uh, hey: are any of your extra cockerels Ameraucanas or good-quality EEs?
Right now the legacy is protected by the fact that there are six people on the title and no two of us can agree on pizza toppings at any given time.

Yup, I'm the calf-photo-spammer. And visitors welcome, usually- remember this is an old-style temperate climate pasturing operation with no barns, and the bull came to live here Friday last, so even though he's tame I ask people to be mindful when they're here. I rashly told my next-door cousin I could get him an Ameraucana rooster this week, and am going to be proved wrong once again, is all. I may some day want to trade for a Porcelain D'anvers cockerel, although I'm getting D'Anvers hatching eggs from the young woman in Centralia this week, and may end up with one of my own raising.Hi! We're practically neighbors.Howdiy, coffeekittie, appropriate name for a town with at least four independant coffee roasters! Uh, hey: are any of your extra cockerels Ameraucanas or good-quality EEs?You posted the pic of the sweet red calf with the wings on her brow, right? So Pretty! I'd love to see them sometime if you ever let people visit...? I have some extra Ameraucana eggs! I was sent 14, count 'em, 14 eggs instead of 6 on a swap! Can you believe the generosity of that? I actually was going to start the incubation today, as I'm waiting to make sure the bator they are going into is temp stable. They are for a flock of egg layers (hopefully) that I want to use to give eggs to the local food bank. I'm jealous of the d'Anver girl you have! I forgot to list my pair of d'Anvers - the Porcelain cock and his Silver Quail lady. I need to get onto building more pens before everyone grows up... Oh, to directly answer your question, no, the extras are all bantam mixes, sorry. I will let you know if/when extras hatch out though, if you like? The eggs are all shades of blue, one greenish, some an intense robins egg - so pretty! I bet there will be boys, don't you think? Thanks for the welcome, and nice to meet you

Darling little lady!My one and only baby girl will be turning 21 in June. Time does go by so quickly... I was conscious of this when she was still a very small girl, and never got tired of admiring her sweet baby face and big brown eyes. She was always an affectionate girl and loved to snuggle. I was reminded of a few moments that I wanted to capture in time when she was little.
The following is a TRUE story.
One day when Lily was about 3 years old she was sitting on my lap I said to her "What am I going to do when you're too big to sit on my lap anymore"?
She replied, "Then you can sit on mine."
Touched by this, I asked "How old do you think you'll be when you're too old to snuggle with your Mom"?
She thought for a brief moment and said, "Probably when I'm 99".
Just when I was basking in the warmth of my baby's sweet response she added, "But by then you'll be dead".
