Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Is there a good way to know if you have any drafts? My fear is that our ventilation would be drafty, how do I know?

I am sure I worry to much but I just want to insure we are keeping them healthy and comfy.

Open enough so that condensation doesn't form is one way I look at it. As long as coop is dry our birds can handle far colder than most give them credit for, my pens are all open wire front, right through winter.

So I haven't been on much lately but my husband and I are trying to sell our Edmonds house. If anyone is looking or knows someone looking please send them our way. We are in the Seaview area of Edmonds, good school distict and great neighbors. Have a vegetable garden on the side with my coop and willing to leave the coop (but not the chickens) if someone really wants it. We are at 19230 80th Pl W Edmonds 98026 and have a 4 bedroom home with a 2 car garage.

BGMATT....

Since that wasn't you Langshan at the show.... and DH saw a pink egg in her cage.... I have to ask, do your also lay pink eggs or was that a "boo boo" of some kind? What do your girls lay size and color wise?

Egg color on a Langshans is brown, any shade is fine (there is considerable confusion about this topic, and I think it has the potential to be harmful to the breed). Usually eggs get lighter the later in the year. However my Langshans typically lay a rosy/brown shade of good size, never put it on a scale to measure, bigger than medium, but smaller than my Minocras used to lay. If anything was laying right now I'd happily post pictures.

HI GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wanted to pop in & say, I have sent out an e-mail to most of you, but those I have not:

I am allergic to eggs, and apparently chicken meat as well (darn it !)
And I am selling all but about 15 of my birds.
This is BBS Jersey Giants, Cuckoo Marans, Blue Copper Marans and a handful of spring hatched OEs from Blue Copper Cock over Blue Ameraucana~
That result is BBS Olive Eggers, awesome gorgeous birds~

So, I guess I will try my best to log on tomorrow & give more details.
Later peeps !

I would be interested in the Blue Copper Marans....say me, who vowed not to get any more chickens for the rest of the year and that vow lasted for a week.

After looking around I found a picture from early in the year. I never pay too much attention to it though. These are all Langshan eggs.

This is a pretty standard, light brown egg that many, many of our breeds lay, including Cochins, Rocks, Buckeyes, and Jersey Giants.
To name but a few.
Some see this as "pink"....oldsters do not.
It is called a light brown egg.
And very nice ones, to boot !

HOW SAD! I'm supposedly allergic to eggs too, but seem to tolerate my eggs fine! I REALLY wish I lived closer as you seem to have wonderful birds! I'm sure you'll have no problem re-homing them!
