Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Appreciate it. Yeah I know lots of breeders around the country, but just trying to network with other local folks. Kind of sad really, when I first started as a kid we'd have a decent turn out of them at the shows (at least the Blacks, whites and blues have been rare as hen's teeth most of my life other than when I had them before and now again). Oh well, hopefully will be able to spread them around again if people are interested.
Monte just sent me an e-mail & said it does no good to try & contact the Langshan Club either, as the guy has been dead for over 5 years (that he knows of) and no one has updated the web site.
He (Monte) did say there was another breeder in TN & GA...let me know if you want addresses.

Club is alive and well, just doesn't have a functioning web site. Secretary is currently Richard Hickman. I found our old website too. It's something that needs to be changed fixed immediately.

Got a link handy ?
I will send it to him.

They don't have a website. There's a yahoo group that's decently active and a facebook "like" page http://www.facebook.com/AmericanLangshanClub But that's one of the things I'm hoping a few of the new officers work on is getting an internet presence, because as much as it sucks, it's a necessity in this day and age. If nothing else I'm going to put together a website for District 1 at the very least.

You can google it. The next exchange is in the spring I think. Those are bigger.
That said, I think if the BYCers can do a bigger one anytime. Most of us garden as well. We can plan for an exchange in the spring at Monroe. :)
Chickens, eggs, plant swap and pot luck.

We do it all. And don't forget ducks too.
Remember when we were talking about antagonistic foods...last show in Monroe ?
Well, HA HA
I have found mine, it's chicken eggs.
So far as I can tell...ducks eggs too but I will try some next spring & see.
If I can eat duck eggs in GF breads, that would be great !
It is impossible to cook with GF flours unless egg is in there to bind the flours together.
GF flours do not have the gluten needed to stick together like wheat flour does...so makes for nasty crumbly bread and pancakes YUCK.
Sometimes, I have read that totally cooking the proteins in eggs (chicken or duck) turns them into another protein that the immunal system can deal with...so we shall see.

Good for you !
I hope it all goes well !
yes, in this day & age everything must be on the internet....I do not 'do' FB...TMI there, too many hackers thieves and the like.
My daughter is on FB (and my son) and I must say they both post EVERYTHING that happens to them every single day, and for a while anything anyone lese said to them as well.
I put an end to them using my info, my address, my photos...everyone in the world knew what color underwear I had on each and everyday and I never went on FB at all! LOL

A lot of people are like you and won't go on there either, I think that's why it's a mistake to not have a regular web page, but when the President and Secretary of the club both don't even have an e-mail address...I know they are great people, really love the breed and have awesome birds, but delegate someone to do a website! I actually laughed when the club ballots got mailed out and they were handwritten! Handwritten ballots in the year 2013!

Edit: corrected myself

I rented a house in Renton/almost Seattle area years ago.
On the side of a hill so the day light basement was below, then the main story & upper story & deck.
Three stories.
Someone had planted 2 kiwi there downstairs, and they had grown up to the 3rd story and across the top of the deck roof.
These vines were super healthy & had tons of big kiwi (bigger than store ones) every fall.
Wish I knew the varieties !
They sure do need space to climb though !
It is probably the SAANICHTON. It ripens earlier than the Californian Kiwi.
Thats one that I want.
So where is this house and might they want to trim the plant a bit??

Lucky for me, this plant can be pollinated by my hardy male.

This is a good time to hunt for fall specials too.
Maybe I should do that.

How ironic.
BUT maybe your body has had its quota of chicken eggs?
I have more duck eggs than I care to eat. You are welcome to have some.
Will you be raising ducks next year for fresh eggs then?
I can hatch a few for you. If they survive the winter.
My duckies are Saxony colors. Like an apricot. They like to lay eggs

On the bread, have you tried using tapioca starch to bind the GF flour?? Tapioca is a root. Available in chinatown or any asian grocery store for 69c/lb
Somehow I still think the wheat and corn and peanut allergies is because of the GMO factor and the tons of "approved" chemicals they grow in.
I have heard of celiacs eating flour in Europe with no problems. How is that?

Oh I use to make pancakes with urad dal (black bean) flour, tapioca flour and rice flour.
Not the best, but not bad.
