Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Unfortunately, I am not in a position financially or geographically to get layers this year from breeders and would like to avoid Chick Day at the feed store, so I need opinions on the best and worst hatcheries.
Input???

Geez, on second thought, with $47 shipping costs, which is what I'm finding, I may just deal with fighting the crowds and lack of variety :/

Hi! I haven't been here in a loooong time! I'm not sure how many of you will remember me. I'm Sara, I live in NE Seattle. I have 2 kids and 11 chickens (10 girls and one boy), 3 cats. I was busy for a while and didn't visit BYC but now I'm the opposite of busy. I'll be lurking around more often. I'm lonely :)
HI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been on here in months but have been recently in the market for some more chickens! I went chicken crazy last year and had 28 and a rooster. It was too much for my property haha. I currently have a barnevelder and lavender orpington. I would LOVE to buy a blue laced red Wyandotte but I want one that has that deep red and very defined blue lace. Does anyone know a breeder in Washington? I know I can order them through a hatchery but I want to see them in person and you cant just order 1 or 2. I also don't want a day old chick. Id like them to be atleast 3-6 months old. I know that's asking a lot for a rare bird but I figured id ask if anyone knew where I might find some in WA!!!!
Something like this

Not like this
Try & send a PM to WA4-HPoultryMom and see if she has eggs yet.........(when it is cold, cocks are infertile)
Anywho, WA4-HPoultryMom is in Monroe, and has some very nice BLRW's~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Check out Erhard Weis, kummerpoultry.com He will have better quality birds. Don't know the people at Baxter, but have seen the birds, they're just hatchery quality.
Spangled Orloffs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Do not forget about Rare Feathers Farm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is in Eastern WA but has excellent birds, and is NPIP.
The issue at hand for all, this time of year, is the COLD will render cocks infertile.
I have a few shooting 50% right now, but I do not sell eggs unless the fertility is at least 99%

remember, when you hatch eggs in spring, buy from a southern area that is warmer...do not even waste your money buying from a colder northern area.

Does anyone happen to have or know of where I could purchase some Blue Laced Red Wyandotte fertilized eggs locally? I see lots on the buy, sell, trade page but thought I'd ask here before I purchase there.
PM WA4-HPoultryMom and see if she has any, but like I said, a doz eggs in January HERE can be 50% fertility at best, and the same birds in March can be 85% fertility, all due to temperatures.

WELCOME! You must be a fellow Finley-an, Finleyite or whatever we call ourselves in the Kennewick sticks! Your name cracks me up!!! I grew up here, moved to Richland for a few years, then ended up buying a house in Finley (more for your money

Do tell what kind of birdies you have! I tend to post on the Eastern Washington thread because our areas in WA are so different, but these guys have tons of goods info and I like to keep up!
Pettec63 is in Outlook, and pips&peeps is over there too, and then there is RareFeathersFarm....alot of great breeders over on your side !
