ok back to work for me~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hey CL, sounds like your new place has all sorts of nice new features, I'm a little jealous since I haven't had AC since leaving E. Wash. when I was a kid.

I've been working in the garden quite a bit this week. The lettuce and spinach I wintered over are nice a big now and providing plenty of greens for us. The spring planted ones are coming along well. Snap peas are starting to bloom -- the best I've gotten at this place -- so glad they have a sunnier location now! This week I've put in all my cukes and winter squash. I don't do nearly as many as you but enough to keep me busy and supply what we need. These hot days have made it hot, sweaty work.

I'm trying something new I just read about. I'm putting a cover over the top of my cukes and squash, like a small hoop house -- leaving the ends open. It's supposed to give them the heat they need between now and July. I hope it works since I had such a rough time with them last year.

And in my spare time I'm integrating a blue Marans pullet into my flock. The plan was to have her be part of a trio being added at the same time, but my best laid plans and Murphy's law didn't agree on anything, so that's what I ended up with.

She hatched from some Helen Byers eggs in Feb. so she's already 13 weeks old. She has a really sweet temperament and after three days of working with her and my hens it's going pretty well.

Quote: Yes the laundromat is so expensive- it is really worth it to get a washer. I do so many loads of laundry around here that it would cost a fortune.

I vote that you let him do the laundry for a while, he'd change his opinion pretty fast I think!

Or just take the bull by the horns and go buy one -- you're a smart person and very capable of doing that!

I let everyone out because of the heat. Shady grass is cooler. Nothing like playing dead and relaxing with your chicks apparently.

My husband hasn't been in any hurry to get a new washer because he doesn't have to deal with it. I've told him that one year of using the laundry mat would pay for the washer
One week of using the laundry mat would pay for it, unless you get LICE and BED BUGS and icky caca I do not even wanna think of it.
I WOULD NOT GO THERE.
He can go wash his own clothes.
