Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So, it turns out BOTH of my brahma's are boys! I got them from a feed store as 3 day old chicks with a 90% chance of being female. I have no idea how those odds can be correct. Anyway, yesterday my husband fashioned a home for them away from the girls. We are hoping they will live happily with each other there. So far, they have not been fighting with each other. I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing though because one of my girls in particular seemed very upset with me for taking her men away. I just really don't want either of them to rough up the girls since there's only three in my flock and one of them is a bantam. Any thoughts?

Addressing the ratio issue: two roosters to three hens might be an issue. I wouldn't worry so much about one hen being a bantam, though. It does put more pressure on them.
What I would do first is wait and see how the personalities develop. You might want to move one of the roosters out of the new coop and move the hen who was upset into the new coop with her man.
If that doesn't work out, try getting a few more hens, and or removing one or both of the roosters.

Thanks for your input. So far the boys seem to be doing ok together. They are currently cuddling on their roost for the night. I am thankful that they both seem to be very sweet. I had no idea there was such thing as a chicken apron until you mentioned it. As far as adding some hens, I would definitely like to, although that will probably happen in the springtime.

I know it's the wrong time of year but does anyone have or know someone that has silver laced Wyandotte chicks of started pullets for sale in Pierce, Thurston or Kitsap Co.? Or any recommendations for a breeder to look into in the spring? Please no hatchery birds. Thanks all.

My dozen duck eggs are sitting large end up in my drawer right now. And the incubator I am borrowing from a friend shows up this afternoon. I'm kinda nervous I am going to do this all wrong and murder all my "babies" ... Any tips? Also, anyone not doing anything next month and want to come sex ducklings? Lol. Hubs is NOT going to want to keep all of them so I promised to cull as many extra drakes as I can as soon as they're ready. But if I know the sexes early, I figured I could also offer the ducklings on CL.

Hello! I haven't been on in a while but I thought I would give this another try. I would like to re-home my flock. The gray EE and White Rock are the older of the two, about 4, and are still laying. My two other EEs are 2 years.

Feeder, water and electric door (which is awesome, timer and all) are included. I am in Tacoma by the bridge. PM me if interested.

Thanks!

Thanks DaveOmak. I checked their sites and their birds look really good. What breeds did you buy from them? Good quality and temperament?

My wife has some family in Brewster and I will see them Thanksgiving so I'm trying to set something up with them bringing birds to the west side with them.

I picked up Sagitas, combo meat and egg birds.... 1 Lavender Orpington and 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte for broody hens... I am new to this chicken thing so I'm still learning.....
