So I need someone to explain to a broody silkie pullet that you actually lay eggs before going broody. She's a mean broody as well. I could feel the bites through the gloves I was wearing.

Kim maybe you can sell attack silkies !
Teach them to BARK !!!

Especially when you have certain breeder birds or rare breed birds and you are waiting for that egg !

I was curious if anyone in Western-Western-WA had experience with treating bumblefoot. We have a girl who I've been trying to treat topically (foot cleaned, wrapped and packed with neosporin) but it's not getting better. Compared to some of the stuff I've seen online, it's a mild case but I'm nervous to attempt surgery with at least showing someone who has "been there, done that" what we have going on.

This morning she didn't want to come out of the coop, and when I physically put her outside, she was obviously favoring her bumblefoot.

Gonna have to do some exploratory surgery & see if there isn't some foreign object in there, or a hunk of plug material which would prevent healing.
Got to do it, irrigate, and wrap it & put her in a rabbit cage or other wire enclosure off the soil.
I use a syring (no needle) and pump betadine solution into the hole in her foot (after you dig around you may remove a hunk of crud that creates a hole.
Betadine solution, available at feed stores or horse shops~

I got my first egg on Sunday! It was cracked, but still so exciting!

YIPPEE and a very nice olive egg to boot !

If the blowing doesn't work, you have to carefully squeeze the hen like she's a bagpipe.

Chicken Rustler is gonna bring me back a SS fermentation tub I gave him a while back, to make yard art out of.......luckily he has not touched it.

well three eggs in a row she is so trying to impress me..I went out the butt crack of dawn to check and there was no egg today I explained how disappoint I was and when I came back later voila she had laid another egg I cracked one and unfortunately it doesnt look fertile. SO I still need to locate some fertile eggs in my area.....

I have a mess of fertiles from day to day, and I can ship, let me know, unfortunately I am not on here 24/7.
