Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Just heard on the morning news that there are 2 commercial chicken operations just over the Canadian/Washington border with Avian flu, tons of birds to be euthanized. thats just not far enough away not to make one jumpy at the first dust sneeze……..

You're kidding !?
In winter ????
Usually that bacteria travels so well in hot humid weather ?????
You are not hearing about the ILT breakout are you ?
Sure it was Avian Influenza ?

what kind?

Good morning folks, boy violet is being a trooper 4 eggs in a row this week :) I think she just wants to make sure she keeps getting goodies :)

So far, mostly Silver Cuckoo Marans, and they are at POL at this time, so eggs not as big as they will get, nor as dark.
Best I could do is ship to you.

**************I do have my Pekin laying an egg a day, and Mr Peking is still right with her....I'd have to check fertility, but think it is fine*************

thank you but absolutely no ducks :) even if they are sooo adorable!

After reading this I compared the list to my flock (+ positive)(/ possible)( - negative)
+ Ruffled Feathers (cold?)
/ Soft Shelled Eggs
+ Depression and droopiness (cold?)
/ Sudden drop in egg production
/ Loss of appetite
- Cyanosis (purplish-blue coloring) of wattles and comb
- Edema and swelling of head, eyelids, comb, wattles, and hocks
- Diarrhea
- Blood-tinged discharge from nostrils
- Incoordination, including loss of ability to walk and stand
- Pin-point hemorrhages (most easily seen on the feet and shanks)
- Respiratory distress
/ Increased death losses in a flock

EDIT: We are very close to the Sumas River, a tributary of Vedder River (the river between the two farms)
