Well, looks like I have 4 cockerels out of 11 Orp chicks.
Not bad, but three will be needing new homes: 2 Jubilee and 1 Lavender. I'm keeping the black one Alistair, since I have chocolate, black, and lavender pullets.

I've heard theres a classifieds of sorts here to post to. Is it fairly straightforward to use?

I toss a tennis ball in the dryer with my down jackets or comforters. Maybe try again?
Oh, I will. I rescued most of these feathers. I'd saved them from the last 3 culls, and was washing them to use in a later (as yet undetermined) project.

It was such a shock, though, to open the dryer after a long day and see this. I was already exhausted, so instead of screaming and crying I just laughed . And it wasn't as hard to clean up as it looked. Although .. now that I think of it, Partner hasn't vacuumed out the vent yet.

I HAVE FOUND FERTILIZED CHICKEN EGGS FROM THE GROCERY STORE!

Here's the catch: Whole Foods is willing to send their Vancouver, WA store fertilized chicken eggs...but I have to commit to FIFTEEN DOZEN (at 10 percent off)! Holy cow! I was only going to keep four or five dozen for myself as an experiment.

Would anyone else like to participate in this and share in the eggs? They're regular, refrigerated eggs. I don't know what breed they are, and I assume the hatch rates would NOT be good. I am just merely curious as to whether or not I could hatch some...

I now it sounds like a bit of a crap-shoot. It's just been something I've been wanting to try after following a thread on this website about hatching Trader Joe's eggs. =)

So if you're interested, just send me a PM. We could even start the experiment together! Haha! If not, I totally understand!

Here is the reply to my email inquiry to Whole Foods:

"Thank you for thinking of us. We carried these a few years ago, but they never sold well enough for us to keep them around. Sorry for the bad egg news! If, however, you were interested in buying an absurdly large amount of eggs (split with a few friends, perhaps?) we can special order a case of 15-dozen, and offer you 10% off for buying big-time. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a lovely week"
