Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Right now I only have 9 chickens, 8 hens and a rooster. 4 Australorps, 5 GSLs. (Golden Sex Link)

I need to know what the Battle Ground/Clark Country Chicken Ordinance/Laws are for a family friend.

Google dosen't help, and I've searched ALL over. Please help!!

Wow! What are opossums after? Eggs, feed or something else? Are they big enough to get the chickens?

I only have quail, but the people next to me have chickens... Idk what he was after but I figured it would be easy for him to climb a wire fence, rip some bird net (vary weak) and eat him some tasty coturnix O.O!!! So I let my dog do his job!

There was an opossum sleeping in my run one morning when I went out to feed the chickens. I think it went in there to a dry place to sleep and some yummy flock raiser. They will eat eggs and might bite if they feel threatened, but they aren't naturally aggressive animals.

The one hen we lost was at about 10:00 in the morning. The neighbor saw a coyote walking up the driveway and it took a hen that had wandered down the hill away from the rest of the flock. She was white (which didn't help) and we were in the barn and couldn't see her.

Most of the birds we have lost have been to red tailed hawks and the neighbors dog. The silkies I have are more paranoid about flying predators than any of the other birds.

I haven't lost any birds to predators in over a year thankfully.

Hi Local Peeps! I've been lurking here since joining about a month ago and though it was about time I introduced myself. My family just bought a fixer on a few acres and we will be getting some chicks as soon as we can get the coop and run built. We have 2 young children (5 and almost 9), 2 dogs and 2 cats. We have a lot of work to do - clearing old blackberry briars, leveling the land a bit and then building the coop and run. We're so excited to get started! It's great to have the BYC forum in general for learning and sharing and also the local thread too. Thanks!

Welcome!

I hope the work on your new place goes well! Thanks for introducing yourself. Have a great weekend.

Luckily we had no predator issues yet where I am (Rural Port Orchard by the water), but I've personally seen the following in our area:

Raccoon
Coyote
Fox
Mink
Eagle
Hawk (not sure what kind)
Owl (Do they go for chickens?)
Opossum
And escapee dogs.
Black bear (Doubt they would go for a chicken, butcha never know ;)

Yep, owls will definitely go for chickens as will bear. And add otters and weasels, too.
