Hello Washington Folks. Newish to the Chicken forum but have enjoyed Chickens for years. I live in Renton so we have a cap on chickens..otherwise i'd have 100

Anyone going to the upcoming Spring fair at the Puyallup fair grounds and the Poultry show in Ridgefield?

I had one like that also !

And another time we had a room we rented out, as we had 4 bedrooms, one with our 2 YOUNG kids in) and the occupant what we thought of as a freind, someone 'safe'
After a week, he & his bone-skinny girlfriend (a sweet woman !) began argueing & he beat the daylights outta her.
It went on, & on.
She would do nothing but grovel as he hit her, and we had to keep interveneing....he saying he had no $ to move & promising to change.
I was furious !
Still another room mate turned out to be a drunk, coming in at 3 AM and deciding he was hungry, he'd put a hamburger on to cook, and then fall asleep watch Adult-flicks !!!
Once again I'd have to get up & roust him to go to bed, turn off the stove, air the smoke out of the house.....and kicked him out.
A month later we got the cable TV bill, with over $300. worth of pay Adult movies charged on it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And he fell asleep to every one of them !!!!!!!!!!!

No more roomates, ever !

I feel your pain. Roommates suck! We had one for a while...trying to help out a neighbor who was in the middle of a divorce. First he broke our new washer, and after that he vandalized our cars in the middle of the night ($4000 worth of damage). Then he had the nerve to call me at work the next morning and ask me if I knew what happened to the cars. Definitely a psycho. No more helping people out anymore, which is sad because we have two spare bedrooms that we never use. Space for hatching more chicks I guess!

Yeah, worse part is these roommates are family.... homeless family basically so even though there have been multiple instances where I want to just chuck them out of the house their only option is the street. If things keep going as well as they have been, we won't have any roommates again after this. Even the people we moved into this house with are gone and omg the disrespect of some people when it's someone else's property. I could never be that disrespectful to someone elses property and end up fixing things for them before I leave.

I'd like to go to the spring fair. That would be fun.

I have to keep my birds at 20% protein to prevent them from feather eating.

What feed do you use? Or do you mix your own to get 20% protein? I've started using the 18% Scratch and Peck and supplementing with Baxter Barn 22% poultry boost. Makes for expensive chicken feed.

We have one doing that too. We also started using Baxter 22%. Yes, it's expensive and the drive is almost an hour for us. I hope it helps.

We're about to introduce 3 pullets, one is a cream legbar. If she keeps it up she'll have to go. Comets are readily available, so I won't feel too bad.

I'm doing everything I can think of to stop the feather picking behavior. Unfortunately, I'm very attached to the culprit (my avatar). I have her in a jail cell that I built inside the run and I've increased everyone's protein intake. I also bought pinless peepers, but I haven't tried them yet. I've also been letting them out to free range more in my yard, but it's tricky because I don't trust my dog with the chickens, so I have her on a leash in the yard with me when they are loose. I let Roxanne, the feather picker, out with everyone else and I haven't seen any picking while they are busy in the yard. I also let her in the coop at night to roost with the others. I wonder how long it's going to take those girls to grow feathers back on their naked butts.

Watching a movie about Frida Kahlo, one of my most favorite artists.
Excellent movie, portrayed by Selma Hyak...what a gorgeous woman.
Makes me want to paint, right after the movie is over.

I have sat around resting, kinda sorta all morning & my back is so stiff & froze up !!

Sometimes I think it is better to keep moving.
I am just one of those people, genetically maybe, to relax.

My son told me one day that I actually "creat" work to do, while everyone else relaxes.
I think he is correct, and I also think I enjoy working as hard as I do.
Even watching a movie, I can sit still for about 20 minutes, max, and then I gotta get up & do something !

Ohhhhh Robyn, They are beautiful…..ARe they new to Your clan…….

Had to chuckle…..My husband says the same thing….I just enjoy being busy….and don't care if he doesn't…..

Yes, Selma is kool, have not seen the Frida movie yet, only the one with Antonio Banderas……So did YOU begin to paint again……I admire…..
