Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I saw someone on craigslist said you could send them back the cockerels back but not for a refund. I thought it was at least a nice gesture, especially for someone like me who wouldn't want to process them myself either DX

Hatch to Lay or Layer? Or either and any?

I'm busy trying to keep my 5 remaining chicks alive. It would be a lot easier if I knew what killed the first 3, especially the one yesterday. I'm none too happy right now.
Last time I was there, they ONLY have pelletd Layer & Scratch, along with pig chow on occasion and rabbit pellets.
So it is scratch & pelleted layer I am after.

Last year I planted too many tomato plants too close together.. This year I'm finding out just how many ripened tomatos weren't found...

Bi-Mart feed is at regular price:

25lb Hatch to hen - $7.99
50lb Layer - $15.99
50lb Chicken Crack (scratch) - $12.99

It is expected to go on sale mid-June.
YIPPEE!!!
Last time it when on sale, the 50# pelleted layer was $11.99 and the Scratch was $9.99..................cannot beat that with a stick ! We just do not get the ads here in Pacific County !

So we had a rude change of events that just killed all that we had set up for and prepared our plans. We now have been looking for new property to relocate to- originally our plans were ok by codes, zones etc. but apparently as of May it all went down the toilet with no notice, or anything that no one can sell anything except handmade items from personal property- it's honestly a bunch of crap and if would of at least sent out notices to residence of the changes prior, and at least done a extra fee to be allowed to conduct agriculture business we would of paid it- so now we're looking for property else where that we can do what we would like to do-

But I guess in some ways we actually found bigger property that we can do more on and have a even better setup and location - that's politics I guess cut out the little man
So, you must have covenents in your neighborhood developement ?
They (Covenents) are good for a few things (no one can paint their house florescent pink, for example) and fencing needs to be approved (usually) but some developers go far enough to say you can only park a vechicle in the same spot for 2 days, after that you have to move it (even in your own driveway !) and no RVS and no this, and no that...all curtesy of your Home Owner's ASSociation.

There is someone on craigslist offering to process and package chickens for $8 each. Does that seem like a fair price? I'm thinking about what to do with all the cockerels I couldn't give away. Not interested in processing them myself, but I hate to see them go to waste.
I have been selling mine for $5 each to asians & mexicans every year.
Not a speck of the bird goes to waste.

A nice rainy day ! Just what we needed to have an excuse to stay indoors and rest for a change !
We have been working our tails off outdoors for quite a while now..............

The garden is getting watered, and my rain tanks are slowly filling back up.................

And I have been working out all day to Cathe Freidman...wow !!
I love weight lifting, and her "Slow and Heavy" episodes are fanny kickers !!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew !!

On another note, my 2 Silver barnie bantam babies finally succomed.............so I am done hatching for another 6 months !!!

I think you misread the post. The person processes the chickens and then gives them back to you for eating. They charge $8 per bird to process them.
I saw the post...and I do not do it, I sell mine to the asians & mexicans and they can eat them.
One of the things I do not do is grow out the males (they will eat you out of house & home) and then sell them for $5.......what I do is sell them young as 2 mo old (when I am sure they are males) rather than feeding them...they eat 2-4X as much as the females.
I am talking LF laying breeds here, not meat birds.
