Back in the 70s my grandfather suffered a massive heart attack and had bypass surgery. With a good diet, NO salt, and daily 5 mile walks, he lived a great life for more than 20 years afterwards. He said he felt better after the heart attack than he ever did before (due to the exercise and diet changes). Best of luck to both of you!

My broody momma have started hatching- I decided to let my 2 frizzle hens hatch their remaining eggs 3 since the one esp has insisted on hatching air-

They both decided to plant themselves in 1 box and hatch out the eggs, the one with her bare back she was the only one available for a while, now Winchesters being going solo. I guess the 2 worked it out that 1 momma has the 2 chicks while the other finishes hatching the remaining egg- lol

My other broody momma my Lavender Optingtons been sitting on a couple who have just started hatching- daddy I was worried didn't have the LAV gene as 2 only hatched chicks came out black, but I know I can get both split and LAV out of a Split parent, just wasn't sure if he still carried the gene. The first lil baby to hatch popped out being LAV - so momma still has 6 to go and I have 12 in incubator to hatch in few more days- boy I hope I don't get all roosters and hoping for some with fluffy feet

Aside from the salt free part of the recipe do you do anything else interesting in your chile? I love homemade chile but I don't think I've ever made Chicken chile, nor have I had it. I've had/bought Turkey chile that was okay, but... I'm thinking that I should try it out for our dietary wellbeing. I need to keep the salt down due to hypertension and arrhythmia or racing heart rate. I'd really appreciate a recipe for it! I do use a bit of salt, but usually various sea salts and I rarely buy veggies or things with high sodium content.

I'm not much of a cook, so this is a "wing it" chili. No pun intended... Although maybe that's what I should call it. I just got out my big chicken-processing pot, put the pre-soaked beans in, added a bunch of frozen veggies we hadn't used, and some low or no salt cans of tomatos and tomato paste, tossed in a frozen bird, and let it simmer for an hour. Then I pulled out the bird, stripped all the meat off it, diced it (and the skin, which I diced more finely) and tossed that back in. Simmered the lot for a couple more hours, then added the spices. Now... I'm allergic to pepper, so after this part I had my men advise me. I know they like it hot, so when they said it wasn't spicy enough I dumped in red chili, garlic, paprika and curry by the quarter cup fulls. Or, what looked like a quarter cup anyhow. I didn't actually measure it. That probably doesn't help you much. But my husband declared it "good" at lunch, so I guess I did OK.

I'm not sure what it is about sugar snap peas that seems to attract every living bug creature around... Luckily the hover fly larvae seem to enjoy eating the aphids even if the ladybugs don't... They just aren't as cute ;(
My peas are fine, planted early before the BUGS...but the beans...suffer with 1) Tater bugs and 2) earwhigs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So super hard to go Organic when these 2 pests multiply like no other !

I'm in the kitchen making two and a half gallons of salt-free (home-grown) chicken chili for my husband.
He had a heart attack and emergency triple bypass three months ago. Between that and the diabetes, he's now on some pretty steep diet restrictions. And he complains about the low salt canned chili I had him try. This stuff will be healthier, tastier, and cheaper!
Oh Honey !!! I did not know !! I only know you were missing from BYC !!!
MISS YOU & Hope all works out !!!

OK..so I really looked at the comb and all I can tell is there is for sure 1 row lol. It is pretty wide at the top, could be three rows.
As for the hackle feathers? I do know he/she is the only one that raises her neck feathers when bothered.
Really thick legs too. I guess I'll know for sure when I get a crow or an egg!

The hard part is, how many decades will we (women) have to spend harping at our men to STOP eating & drinking & smoking & come JOIN US ON A 4 OR 5K RUN ?????
How about you just come to yoga class with me ???????????????????
How about you walk upstairs & ride the bike & do some free weight training ??

They won't

Most never will unless a DOCTOR tells them to AFTER the heart attack.

Men do not listen to women.
They call it "nagging"
