Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Brand new chicken mama here! I have seven breeds I'd like to combine to start my flock, but all of the bigger hatcheries have minimum orders that are far too many chicks for this lady! Any suggestions??? I'm in puyallup

When I decided to get back into chickens, I wanted one each of several breeds and I bought day old chicks from My Pet Chicken (mypetchicken.com). I was very happy with their service. However, the shipping is expensive and they have very limited availability this time of year. If you are willing to wait until early next spring and are willing to pay a bunch for shipping, they will sell you as few as three chicks and each chick can be a different breed.

I have been on a mission for a few years now trying to get access to the three native Chilean birds, two of which are the parent species used to create araucanas. Anyone have any ideas? Importing them is out of the question...way too expensive to get through customs and quarentine.

Coastal will be getting chick in two weeks. Not a great selection, but better than nothing.

Baxter Barn gets their birds from hatcheries and then marks the price up. You can get the same chicks from the hatcheries for half the price and they won't be exposed to all the "germs" at the Barn.

It is always better to get chicks from a local breeder if you can find the breeds you are looking for.

It's raining!!!!!! Yeah. Rain!!!! Woo-hoo
