It seems like there are some breeds that are less stressed during molt, my ameraucanas, for instance, will slow to every other day and don't she'd as many feathers, whereas my marans and slw, especially these two breeds, do vacation during molt.

So was I! I was so worried that we'd end up with some noisy birds. I was feeling very discouraged after the 3 faverolle mutts were so loud but the 5 new girls that I have are very quiet and total lovebugs! Much better suited to a backyard flock!

OK folks, my Langshan mutt that has pointy hackle and saddle feathers is laying. The other 4 birds have confirmed egg colors, and a white egg popped up in the nest box again. Last bird to get named - Gandalf the Grey.

Look for the culprit to have white ear lobes...generally, ALL white egg layers will have white ear lobes, as for your hackled pullet, maybe doesn't have hackle after all ?

Why is he mixing with water? It seems like an extra, and unnecessary step. And why leave the needle on? I'd probably poke somebody.... like me!

he is a Doctor, and he does what he does to make the drops a certain size.
I haven't poked myself yet...not while 'doing' the chickens anyways.
