Penedesencas are one of the few exceptions to the rule. As are Silkies, which have blue-ish earlobes, Empordanesas have white earlobes and lay brown eggs, and of course the blue/green egg layers like Legbars (white earlobes) and Ameraucana and Araucana (red earlobes).
The general rule though is that most white egg layers have white earlobes and most brown egg layers have red earlobes.

I really need to remove the other one as well. I don't want a repeat. I have to wait for a while. He lost a lot of blood because the core broke. What other rooster would just lay there on my arm, trusting, as I turn him every which direction dumping blood stop all over his leg. I was really worried he was going to bleed out it was so much. His leg is cushioned and wrapped for now. He'll get some good treats tomorrow.

I would never know how to trim those if I got a rooster.
I'm glad that I just have hens.

Say, will dogs eat those spurs like they do with horses hooves when they get trimmed?
My dog used to love eating my horse's hooves when I brought them home.

If you tend to be a bit clumsy with needles, just cut off the point. Needles do come in different gauges and the bigger the gauge, the larger the drop will be.

I have no prob with them, but some folks is terrified of needles, and can actually stick themselves from sheer nervousness of having a needle around !

You know it is super easy to remove them, simple grab the spur & twist, use a pliers if you want, I do it bare handed. I have enough spurs to make a claw necklace...ewwwwwwwwww
