I have something even better...Ameraucana x Araucana x CCl They are rumpless, bearded and crested. Unfortunately they are not completely rumpless and have partial tails at this point. I'm probably going to stop trying to produce rumpless EEs since they do have lower fertility than the tailed variety.

Okay, so I'll try to match you. I'm going to try to get my sf x or to cross a AR x am. It'll take me a couple seasons since one mix doesn't exist yet and the other just hatched this summer, lol. Now it seems we need to make a meet your mixer thread! Lol.

This is how new breeds are developed. You never know what you're gonna get and it could be something really good.

I have two "project" breeds going on, but the crested, bearded EEs are just a hobby and I don't have time or coop space to dedicate to it. They are so cute though. I have two new crested/bearded roosters, but they are related to most of my hens so I'm not really sure where I'll go from here.

How are they related? You could do line breeding, I think it's best if you can do father to daughter, mother to son, aunts/uncles to nieces/nephews. Brother to sister doesn't work so well. What I've seen on threads is that hens pass on certain traits and roos have their category of traits they pass on. Like breeding a solid roo to a barred hen, the roo passes his color to the pullets while the hen passes hers to the cockerels, hence sex linking. But other traits can be strengthened or worsened from line breeding. Okay, I hope I got that right... it's worth looking into if nothing else to set me straight on the facts.
