Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Eeeeeewwwww! But very cool and interesting! Have you ever wormed yourself?

I have! LOL

I've got one that insists on a galvanized bucket, under the bbq in the garage... Then she "big big big eggs" until we tell her what a good girl she is.
I had one who insisted she lay in my washing machine on the back porch...if the lid was down she circled the house with ear-splitting complaints until I opened the lid for her to get in to lay her egg~~~that was, about 25 years ago...i guess.

I'm not looking for anything specifically, just chickens.
Post here what you are looking for, Specifically:

FYI: "just chickens" can be found at any feed store in spring, if that is what your after, then there ya go. If you are after show birds, Seremas, Bantams, or whatever, please be specific.
Then maybe we can help you, and welcome to BYC WA !!

I want breeders where I know where they come from. I'm going to the feed store in the spring, but after that I'm going to adopt a roo so I can breed my own chicks, and get from local breeders, if I can find any.

GOOD GIRL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wee.gif

and incidentally, a "roo" is some ugly marsupial from australia..............................what we have with BIRDS are Cockerels and pullets (birds under 1 year of age) and over 1 year of age they are Cocks (males) and Hens (Females) and please not let you too be someone who thinks Cock is a dirty word ! Who invents this stuff ?
At any given time we farmers have to change the names of our stock because weird humans """Make""" their names """NASTY""" and therefore you cannot say "the nasty name" .....................Thank God for the FFA and, the 4-H , every American born on a farm that is raised with Animals, and these children born on farms, learn that Cocks are male poultry over 1 year of age, and pullets are females under 1 year of age. In show class, some classses are for old cocks, birds over 1 year old. This is NOT a nasty word unless you have some sort of nasty mind. We farmers do not......we see heiffers birth, Bulls mate, Cocks come & go, and Rams mate...You who think this is some kind of NASTY stuff, need to be off a thread that discusses farm animals, their breeding, birth, and hopefully, their health....and NONE of them in this nation, are """ROOS""""

You city folk who "decide" that a farm animals's name is a dirty word, need to do in with yourself...find another word for your beloved body parts.....

******************************Once again, sorry for the rant...sometimes us old folk get very annoyed at everyone changing names around.
Another annoying word is 'hash tag' like who ever bought hash and saw a tag on it ?
roll.png

It is a pound sign !

And a dust storm in these United Sates is called a dust storm !!!!!
We also have Tidal Waves !
It is as if it is super cool to re-name all American words with a foreign word...like La Nina, or El Nino...and what is all the goop about Tuscany ????
Parma Italy has much better food !
It annoys me (and others) that every Italian food product made in the USA MUST be 'Tuscan" as in Tuscan spices, Tuscan Chicken, ?????
Weird, huh ?
Got any pet peezes ?
Speak up here !

Us old folks is weird, huh ?

@allosaurusrock Remember that if someone is breeding to standard of perfection the cull birds are ones that just aren't perfect enough most of the time. There are some breeding experts on BYC, that suggest if you're looking to breed for shows you'll want breeder quality (bq). Just because a birds parents are show quality doesn't mean the chick will be. It's suggested that starting with birds that are good and working toward perfection is the way to go.

also sick, not preforming well...and alot of PPL who get factory birds in spring, but do not feed/worm/vaccinate/etc and they are less than desirable

I'm not trying to be a breeder. When I say, HAVE to cull, it would be something like a meat bird that grows to fast for itself.
There is no such thing as a meat bird that grows too fast for itself, nor "culling" such a bird is called "Butchering".............FYI....a meat bird that grows fast is what you want in meat birds .
