Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Maybe my fellow Washingtonians can help me. I am looking for 6-8 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs. I got a lovely Blue Wheaten cockerel from my neighbor around the corner @Hinotori and what do you know, I must get some matching girls for him! (chicken math strikes again

) Does anyone know where I can find some in the area this time of year?

I got my blue wheaten girl from Lyn Adams, she's in Gig Harbor. You'd need to contact her on FB to see if she has anything available right now. Last year she had an issue with fertility so she may not.

When my brown egg laying chickens first started out, I got a few very very large double yolk eggs that looked almost white. They were kind of pinkish. But definitely not brown. Maybe that's what you're getting from your chickens. I don't know. I think the only way you can absolutely know for sure is to separate them all and see what eggs They lay.

Probably from one of my bards they are the larger birds. all today are normal size some dark brown others more tan the bards tend have the lighter color ones as well. I have considered adding a few pullets in the spring I am at 13 birds and would prefer 14 to 16

If you want me to start saving eggs for you, let me know.
I have a new line of Wheaten, (not the ones I mentioned that were rough breeders) so let me know. I am in the process of separating breeds into various coops to begin the breeding season, they were all turned into 1 flock for winter.
Send me a PM if you want eggs.

You are not out of line, ask any questions you want.
That is how you learn!
What I do, is take requests & hatch what is wanted, rather than just going nuts & hatching eggs...sometimes I have been 'stuck' with alot of chicks no one came to pick up, and it did not go well with hubby, LOL
So
What I do now is take requests & set eggs and you pick them up when they are a few days old.
I usually have them all vaccinated by then.
This is straight run, so if you want 5 hens, it is wise to order 10 eggs set, becuase at least 50% can average as males.
That is another reason I do not just hatch eggs for no particular customer anymore...folks would show up & buy all the pullets and we'd be stuck with ALOT of males !
Hubby was not happy at all!

If you want eggs, I can ship you eggs.
pips&peeps (newman lake, in eastern WA) sells & ships eggs birds & chicks from her Ameraucana flocks.
If you just want a few shipped, contact her (for Ameraucana)

That is always an option also...and most feed stores have a assortment of breeds. Some feed stores can actually order a special breed for you, that they don't usually carry.

So stop by Del's and ask if they are going to carry what you want, if not, ask if they can order you, say, 5 Ameraucana pullets....and they should call you when the chicks arrive.

Be advised, that these birds will not be 'pure' breeds.....especially in the case of Ameraucanas, which in most all hatcheries are actually Easter eggers, which is a light brown layer bred to a Ameruacana, you get off spring called Eatser eggers which usually lay a minty green or blu-ish greenish egg.not a pure sky blue egg, as the birds are half light brown layer, not pure breds.

They still lay a nice colored egg & still give you breakfast, though !

I guess because I don't want to hatch any that is the best way to go,
