Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I always introduce my new birds at night.
When the flock wakes in the morning, and sees a new face, most times they go on with their business as if this bird was there all along, unless the new bird is freaking out...and attracting attention to itself...then you have to step in & take it in a different angle...where I put the youngsters back in a brooder & try again a week later or so, also at night.
Never had any issue further.

Adding a new chicken should definitely be done over a period of weeks. Not to mention without quarantine period you could be introducing illnesses to your flock from the new bird, or to the new bird from your existing flock. Have meds on hand in case any of your chickies start showing signs of sickness.

That would be the least of the problem, as I will be getting chicks a few days old I will start them in the laundry room in a large plastic tub and a light. I think I am going to post my Turkey on Craig's list try to sell him I have him in a separate coop that I have actually sold but they have not picked up yet.
