Thank you, but you will no doubt realize that I am no one special.
There is Farmers and Ranchers all over the world, who do just about everything imaginable for their livestock, and most for their family as well.
Some live so far out in the boonies, having a big well packed black bag is a must !
Especially if you are out using a chain saw, or any construction tools...
Everyone needs to think about what they are doing, how dangerous it is, and how far is it to a hospital ???
And learn what to do IF the IF ever happens.
I even have candy in my bag...for the diabetics in the family...hey....it happens !

Yes I understand the importance and always kept a surgical kit about. My best friend and house mate is Diabetic as my Step Dad was too, me myself I am hypo Glycemic we always have a few things about. We are fortunate to have a decent hospital 10 miles down the road but one must be stabilized prior to transport.

Great information! (I sure hope this hen NEVER has to be around that rooster ever again).

The male never did that agin to any other hen. He was trying to kill this hen as if she were a rival male !
He was standing on her (she squatting) and he was just ripping her up like hamburger.....you can see he spurred into her abdo cavity, and ripped out all her feathers, and began digging her skin off...and she dutifully squated the entire time........such happens to women in the world......

So she survived, but I hate to think how many hours she endured this as I was not home ! She was an awesome Java Hen !















Every once in a while you will encounter a very special bird...even when you have 50 or 100 chickens...there will be 1 that is so special !

And always be ready for anything...carry water, blankets, storagible(sp?) foods, like jerky..and nuts, as well as sweets, for you, you, like me would carry you lunch (over packed lunch) every where...cheese, fruits, etc.
Mom teases me, that if we ever went off a cliff, and were lost in a ditch, we'd be just fine ! LOL

Pearl was special, too...she was so cool !


Pearl, a Splash Maran...got in the house when ever she could...no other bird has ever tried, nor wanted to be in the house...Pearl did, she knew where the goodies came from and was not the least bit afraid to go get her share everyday !






This lovely young lad is a Blue Copper Marans....and he was a delight from the beginning ! A very special bird...I could go on for an hour about how cool he was...I ended up gifting him to a special friend, Diane Pagal, for her breeding purposes, and he continued to amaze her ! This male (a young cockerel here) even raised chicks !

Wow @Chickielady Those birds are adorable. I can't believe that hen withstood that, one tough chickie that's for sure. Poor girl.
