Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The portion of our backyard fence that is privacy boards did not survive the winds. It got up over 100 mph last night. The trees and the coop are still standing. Didn't loose power last night, but it probably will go out later today when the crews are fixing things.
We didn't loose power either but seems some fairly close to us did so we
lucked out only loosing the one tree top that didn't hit anything landing
between the carport and the neighbors roof missing both thank heavens

My rescue gsd managed to get locked in our
brick pump house and put a whole in the gut of one my new bard pullets. I am not torn up
but was downright po'd with the fact she did it, it was not chewed it had
one whole in the gut but at 3-5 days old the pullet expired.
huh? a whole what ??? and you locked your godson in a pumphouse ?
she ?
what ?

My daughter decided she would like to do 4-H and show chickens. She chose our Imported British Splash Orpington - I was wondering as a youth at least if she is able to show them. I can not seem to find any information if they are allowed or not.

Also if anyone has one that has been shown to maybe post a picture so I can get an idea of the desired traits - I've never shown before, so I don't know what to look for as bad traits.

Thank You =)
You need to look at the APA SOP...The American Poultry Assoc. Standard of Perfection.........................................................and look at what your bird says. At this time, I am not all sure that we have an English Orpington BBS, listing...you'd need to get in tough with other BBS, Eng Orp people.
Most are on FB...

Well good thing I hadn't actually set the incubator yet. I was reminded that I could be flying down to California anytime between two weeks from now and a few months. We just don't know when.

*sigh*

So I went ahead and moved the ameraucana's over into the big pen with the layers. That pen is just below capacity now, but it has all of the large fowl. No free range for a few days for them. Only the large fowl every get unsupervised free range. I've lost to many silkies stepping inside to use the bathroom.

That also means I will have two of the smaller pens (10x20) open so I can set broody silkies when the next one actually does go broody. Surprisingly none of them are at the moment.
WHY do you have to fly to CA at a moment's notice ?????

Differences between EE, Ameraucana, and Araucana broken down-

Araucana- pea comb, yellow skin, handful of allowed colors, always should be rumpless, show quality birds always have ear tufts, only lays blue eggs.

Ameraucana- pea comb, white skin, handful of allowed colors, always is bearded and muffed, only lays blue eggs.

Easter Egger- any kind of comb type, any skin color, any color/pattern combination, can be muffed and bearded or clean-faced, might lay any color egg.
Excellent, but most all Ameraucana are dark shanked,,,, a dark blue/black.
The acceptible colorations for the pure blood Ameraucanas is slited on the Ameraucana Breeder's web site

http://www.ameraucana.org/

So is she Araucana? I'm confused about her because I don't think her eggs are really blue. They look minty?

So she is rumpless ?
Some colorations of Aracuana and Ameraucana do have greenish eggs, and most of it can be traced back to the fact that somebody breed the coloration is,,,despite what they all say................that egg looks great to me !

Making the drive back with hubby so he doesn't have to do the two days alone like when he drove down. He'll pick me up at the airport and we'll start the drive the next morning. Hopefully he doesn't have too much stuff that he's bought while down there. There is only so much room in the bed after the toolbox gets forklifted in.

It looks like the trip will be sooner rather than later. We're still working on the assumption he'd coming home to be laid off, though.
