wow, so the predators will be back tonight !I am down to 11 pullet from 16 don't seem to be doing so great protecting them this year.
Actually I end up at my original 16 with the 5 I have now laying, just a bit disappointed I have lost

This sounds more & more like complete freaky weirdness to me...a wading pool ? a shepard with a whole abdomen???????first went to the our shepard being locked in the pumphouse where I
have them she picked it up putting a whole in the abdomen I do not
believe she wanted to hurt it though lost one more a day or so later not sure
why 2 more went the next day I have them
in a wading pool sitting on a pallet now and 3 of them jumped out
one seemed to hurt a leg the other two seem to be ok
we drilled holes on the upper lip of the pool running chicken
wire over the top now. I may move all of them back into the tubs
I was using as they get older less room but it is safer.

I am sorry, it is time for me to bug out lest I say what I am really thinking/which is these are baby chickens...OK I am dropping it right there.
Sounds to me that you are what is eliminating your chicks.
Bantam Fowl are not necessarily any louder than large fowl, it is the breed and blood line you look atoh no not bantamsthey are awful loud see I am fortunate no hubby just a very tolerant best friend who knows I am nuts![]()
