Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Chicken math is when something happens and you end up with an exponential amount of chicks.
My chicken math this year went something like this. New Years day, a coyote chewed it's way into the coop and got two hens. So I hatched out 8 chicks on Valentine's day. Then, I had to get rid of my adult rooster. So just for fun, I hatched a bunch of chicks fathered by my black sexlink cockerel to see what he would produce with my Easter Egger hens. 11 hatched two days before Easter. Then, I had a hen pass suddenly, so I loaded my incubator with as many eggs as I possibly could, 3 dozen due next week.
It's only April...
So to recap-
15 chickens has turned into 27, with more on the way...

deep fried Wisconsin cheese curds in beer batter, all beef hotdogs and watermelon for deserts.
We all are pretty much tea teetotalers so had to go buy a beer to do this. Have any of you
given watermelon rind to your chickens any time when i was a kid Mom always had us through
them to the chickens.

I am also curious of the 13 barred pullets there are two that are
a much lighter coloring they came from dels/tractor supply
yes they are hatchery birds

I had picked up two nucleus boxes, one for myself which I put into a hive, And a second for a friend. I had his box overnight, and when he left I ended up with a mass of bees where it had been sitting. I was trying to figure out if I should try and move them closer to my hive, or if that would cause a disaster! I didn't see them today though, so it may have resolved itself somehow.

my husband and I keep bees. Ask away!

Strange. The package that you put into a hive for yourself was still there and intact? Had you removed the package that was your friends at all and put into a hive? Strange they would be left if the package was never opened... wondering if your package was able to get to your friends package and simply clustered around it? In any case, hopefully, they either went off to join another hive, or they joined yours. :)
