Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I did the same sort of I raised 5 barreds, 2 rode island reds, 7 or 8 light brahmas
all pullets. One was lost when it got in wire broke a leg the others walked all over it.
and bought 3 more later. The reds seemed pesky they would kick the shavings
out of all the nesting boxes bug the others in the nesting boxes..
I gave them away.. this spring I sold all 9 brahamas buying 16 barred pullets
and three Easter egger pullets for color.. now I chose to give away
4 barred pullets to add 4 more easter eggers. I like to keep even numbers
for some odd reason.

We currently have 2 black English orpingtons (love the fluffy) two lavender orpingtons, one Chocolate orp/legbar mix (blue eggs) sex linked, an two blue laced red wyandotte one is splash. We hope to be able to widdle it down to 4, one of the blacks is looking like a roo.

guess in way I am also I found the barreds to be very stable unflappable
and rather friendly without allot of health problems. I chose the easter eggers
because of what I heard about them and found junbegenna sp here a reputable
breeder. I wasn't going to have allot of birds till I started learning
chicken math

Chicken math? Do enlighten me.

Chicken math? Do enlighten me.
Chicken math is when something happens and you end up with an exponential amount of chicks.
My chicken math this year went something like this. New Years day, a coyote chewed it's way into the coop and got two hens. So I hatched out 8 chicks on Valentine's day. Then, I had to get rid of my adult rooster. So just for fun, I hatched a bunch of chicks fathered by my black sexlink cockerel to see what he would produce with my Easter Egger hens. 11 hatched two days before Easter. Then, I had a hen pass suddenly, so I loaded my incubator with as many eggs as I possibly could, 3 dozen due next week.
It's only April...
So to recap-
15 chickens has turned into 27, with more on the way...

hmmmm well if you want three get 6 if you want 6 get 12 :celebrate isn't that how it works

Chicken math is the only email I have ever done well in :)
Oh my chickens are now in the new coop and run. How long should I keep them in there before letting them free range? I was thinking at least a week or two.
