Not only that, but you want to make it quick and clean. I would feel terrible if I did it wrong and The poor thing suffered more than it had to. I'm sure you could find somebody to take them, even if you just gave them away. Or just raise them up and have three chicken dinners.
I'm sure glad my three turned out to be girls, at least I hope they are. Yes, I know girls is not the proper term but hey I don't care.

I haven't figured out how to look at the for sale section on here. Craigslist also makes me nervous. You can order from a hatchery or just risk it at the local feed store. Last year one of the stores here had chicks all the way through September. As long as you have a plan for any roosters that may come along then you're fine.
My chickens are getting used to the new coop, learning where to lay the eggs. Some of them roost on their own but last night I had to go put the rest up there. They'll figure it out soon enough.
I have figured out that the roosts are too high so I'm going to try to find somebody that can help me lower them. They were put in with screws but I painted over the screws :-(

I've got what I'm pretty sure are 4 girls separated for you. I'll hang on to them for another week, just to be absolutely certain. Depending on what hatches in the next few days, I may be willing to part with a few more.

I can't add any more birds but if anything happens to any of mine this year, I will try to get some chicks from people on this site. Maybe I'll try again to get some different colored eggs.
Olive, Blue, dark brown, Green, and I think I'll get a leg horn just throw in a white one. I almost got a leghorn this year but I was counting on my Easter Eggers to give me some color. I will be interested to see if the three new brown egg layers I got this year will lay a different color brown than the ones I have so far. I'm not really familiar with the range of brown for brown egg layers
Of course there's always the option of just adding different colored birds no matter what color eggs lately. So far I have nine different birds and they all look a little different. I like that so that I can tell them apart because of course I name them. I know some people don't but that's OK. If I was raising the meat chickens I would not mean them.
