Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I know that feeling. Income has been greatly reduced with hubby out of work so trying to save a bit. The price was good enough to try the food. Even better with the military discount. If we are up near coastal I pick up more.
You have a Bi-Mart nearby ?
Their pellet layer feed is awesome, high pro, very nice...and all month of April on sale for $12 for 50#.....I stocked up big time !

not a good day here, The last 6 weeks we have been at St Pete's in Olympia
My Mother has always been a strong women refereed to as pionierish by some
always capable she has been diagnosed as advanced dementia no longer the
women that raised and loved me I am often a stranger to her now and it is tearing me apart

This is something we all have to go through at some point in time, unless we have lost parents in sudden accidents.
Hard to say which is worse, though.
I am facing this very same thing.
Mom is fading, but happy.
Dad is doing fine and very aware of how Mom has lost her memory.
So here we go, down that same trail.
Hang in there !

Nope. One by you is nearest I think. We stop there whenever we go to the coast. The Payback 5 way scratch is my girls favorite.

Thank you finally made it home and did survive have wonderful friends
my family of us three here that hold support comfort me. The time with Mom today
she is still at St Pete's no discharge date yet but had her hug as my Mom and yes more tears
she was there with me for 15 minutes then back into the other world.
Went on to her and my brothers place to help pack keeping some needing to
short through 78 years of photo gathering.
there are many books she had as the younger sister of a teacher.
but my girls still came through with 5 Jumbo eggs for me

Legiti - if you are in the Vancouver/Portland area, I can help you lower the roost.

I am in Walla Walla. I'll see if my neighbor can help me. I cleaned off the poop board for the first time today and definitely know I want to lower those roosts. They were also supposed to be removable but we both forgot until it was too late.
I'm going to see if my neighbor can help me with the roost and with putting up the hardware cloth along the top openings.

Penny, I am very sorry to hear about your mom. Dementia is terrible. Both my grandmas went through it, centripetal force they were in their late 80s to early 90s when they got it thank God. It's terrible when people start getting in their 50s and 60s. At first I think it's harder on the individual with the memory issues but later it seems easier on them in some ways, and harder on other around them
Hang in there. Tell your chickens about it, like all animals they are supportive in their own way and they don't judge. That's why animals are great.

Limit is only in your mind though right

Well, that and city ordinances. At this moment I am technically allowed to have 50 chickens. But I'm also supposed to have them more than 50 feet from any property line. I could even have a rooster. But the animal control lady is going to change all those rule soon and I will still be out of compliance :)
