I have many golf balls I found at a thrift store should any go it best
to give them something then they bring themselves out

Nope. One by you is nearest I think. We stop there whenever we go to the coast. The Payback 5 way scratch is my girls favorite.

Their pellet layer is very nice, and perfect for water fowl also

Tonights meeting of broody anonymous had a new member. Freaking hatchery New Hampshire's aren't even supposed to go broody!

I have one Chantecler/Ameraucana cross (VERY BROODY) go broody AGAIN so I removed her from a fertile coop & tossed her in a coop with no males....and she grabbed a hunk of my hand & twisted and screamed !!
It felt like someone had clamped me with a vice gripe and did not let go for about 6 seconds......OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

As for your broody collection, I really think they see/hear each other & it is then a matter of time before they all go south...kind of contagious.

Those girls range in age from just at a year to four years old. Three of them are wheaten ameraucana, and two are half ameraucana. Two are tried and true mothers that have been broody before and raised chicks. Some of the otheres were actully raised by them. Maybe that's the New Hampshire's issue. The mother who raised her is one of them.

Broodiness varies from breed to breed. Some it's breen pretty much bred out. On the other end there are silkies....

I only have three broody silkies now. Two have chicks. And chicks are hatching.
And the funny part is, now you have to go to the store to buy eggs !

I need some broodies over here! After that bobcat wiped out most of my flock its slim pickings for broody hens. How's your Wheaten Ameraucanas doing? Thanks to you giving me Frankie that Blue wheaten cockerel I am seriously bitten by this Ameraucana bug. You don't have any hens, pullets, or chicks available by chance do you????

How long does it takes for a chicken to get out of broody mode?
Depends on how you break them.

I usually grabs em & puts em in a new coop every day.
The occupants of that coop usually keep the trespasser on the run and not allow her to take over the nest box area.
If that doesn't work, we get the smallish rabbit cages out, and clip them suspended on the clothesline.....with no bedding, the cold air goes right up her 'skirt'......and in there she swings in the breeze..........this really throws off a broody: Light, movement & cold air !

Swinging and cold air up her skirt usually bring them right out of broodiness.

Washougal ????

Not too far at all...a mere Sunday afternoon drive..
................actually I am not sure Michelle is even selling anything right now, she was in a very bad motorcycle accident not long ago and more than likely is not breeding & hatching...but I can ask her if you'd like ?
It's a shorter trip for you, cause you're closer to I5. It's a good 3 to 4 hours away from here.

Are you asking how long a hen is typically broody for? If incubating eggs, 3 weeks. If not incubating any eggs, indefinitely. Do you want to know if she will stop brooding on her own at some point? Without breaking her broodiness or giving her chicks to raise, it's not likely.
If you want to know when a hen will resume production after being broody, usually about 4 to 6 weeks.

I have seen some stubborn hens continue to be broody for longer...and almost die of starvation.
I had one Marans who was so broody I could wear her like a hat all day...she was so in the zone she would not flinch, eat or drink.

The cold swinging rabbit cage worked on her though !
