Salted chicken eggs? Wife is thinking about doing that once we are overwhelm with them.

Have you tried salting your chicken eggs, Penny?
Hard boiled I use salt personally, I use lemon juice in the water so they peel easy

A very nice looking flock.  Lots of selection.  Would be fun to add a rooster to that group.
soon roosters will not be allowed in the city limits here. But I offered to let my friends rooster mate with them. He is half white leghorn and half buff optington, he is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see the combinations with all my different breeds.

Since we are rehoming hens, we are pick up different type of hens which we do not even know what type are they - the kids does name each one :) -

Thinking about tagging each one once we determine their type. Anyone have suggestion on how to tag chickens? I'm thinking it's the same as any type of bird, poultry leg bands.

Is there a guide to try to help determine what type of chickens I have?

Covington outlawed roosters last year when the code enforcement officer rewrote the small animal codes. Ours are grandfathered in so I have more roosters than I would have kept in order to make sure I keep my right to have them.

We use different colored zip ties.

I don't know if my town with grandfather them in. The city Council is a bunch of idiots. The animal control person told me she really wouldn't go looking for issues, but if somebody complains then she has to respond.

Did you post them on the what kind of chicken is this thread? I'm not good at ID in chickens but some people are.
