ya but I will get your incubator in the end
hey how long before you can candle an egg.. James found on a show how
but cannot get the light to penetrate green eggs?
For green eggs, you need a really, really bright light with fresh batteries. And it needs to be really dark. Normally, I can't see much besides the air cell. For most eggs, you can check for development at about 5 days. Remember, fat end up, pointed end down. Shine the light from the top, looking down into the egg. And mark those air cells on day 10, 14, and 18. Adjust the humidity level according to the air cell growth; higher for too much air cell growth and lower for too little air cell growth. Then, on day 18, you remove the turning tray and raise that humidity up as much as possible.
Read this article as often as you can. It's a lot of info, but it's all good stuff.

And @Sally Sunshine is the incubation guru on BYC. I bow to her incredible skill and knowledge. She is happy to answer any and all incubating questions.

So I have a silkie hen that decided to be broody almost constantly this last year. I haven't been letting them hatch so she sets for a month, eats like a pig for a few weeks then sits again. She's got good weight but her feathers are horrid. She hasn't molted in a year and a half or more. I'm not confident she's going to get enough new ones for winter.

So i ordered her a little thermal saddle that came today. She was not happy with me trying her clothes on to make sure they would fit.

One of the roosters has been harassing her and hopefully can keep her from going broody and instead molt

psss its been a busy summer for me and some days I dont get on here at all, but there are tons of knowledgeable people on the incu thread, you can pop on there anytime and ask for help if you need it. Or they can help you find what you need in the notes, as that too is getting full of info. I wish you the best of luck!!
