Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

@Hinotori Thanks got a kick out of it myself... hey my BF's 34 year old son he and I bought the house
together anyway he found something they are calling turchickens... saying the crossed the two?

you could possibly have more with light in the coop how long have you had the ee? if you do
not have light depending on their age they may stop till spring

They are various ages. Two of them are 2 1/2 years old and they are molting right now. So of course no eggs from them.
Four of them including the Easter Eggers are just about one year old now. Three of them are nine months old. And the last three are about six months old. I'm not totally sure the last three have started laying eggs yet, they might have a little. The Easter Eggers are about a year old. The one that does lay a greenish blue egg actually lays a huge green blue egg so I guess that's good.
The next time I get more chickens I will start getting some breeds with different colored eggs like dark brown or all live eggs and probably white just to shake things up a bit :) most of mine lay brown eggs.
I will not add light. I would rather have my chickens lay eggs for a longer amount of time over there lifespan versus a lot more eggs or quickly. Because I plan to keep them for their lifetime. I jerryrigged a blue tarp to cover part of the run from all the rain this week. But I also bought a white one yesterday so I will replace the blue one with the white one and that will let a little more light in. They free range in the yard most of the day so it probably really won't make that much of a difference. The inside of the coop is painted white except for the nest boxes that are painted dark dark dark green. And there are three large windows so they get plenty of light in the coop. But three eggs is a little disappointing I have to admit. Oh well that's how it goes.

A friend of mine had a couple Bantum turkens. I called them buzzards. They are just so ugly, they're not even cute. But they are definitely unique. I think it's funny how people think there are chicken crossed with a turkey, only because that's what I thought too before I knew better :) :) how embarrassing.

Quote: with light and the windows they probably will start to lay before spring
I do know it can affect a bird laying in the winter..
@Hinotori Thank you I also found naked neck from Romania so calling them
a cross is in error that way Thank you both for correcting me on them

I think it is helpful that the two big windows are on the east side. There is a smaller tinted window on the southside.maybe I shouldn't have used a tinted One but I was thinking more of keeping it cooler in the summer. It's not that dark. Today I've gotten a total of two eggs :-(it is supposed to be sunny the next few days so maybe that will help.
A totally unrelated question, does anybody know where Chris09 is? I noticed that person has it posted in a long time. Did anything happen to them? I hope not, I liked reading their posts about feeding chickens.

Do not know a chris 09? sorry maybe one of the others here does
did you search for his profile you can send a pm and or see when they where last on.
My coop has no "windows" just an open door but has vent fans
2 day lights one a 60 the other a 40 and a red bulb in the evening for me
the 60 is on a timer the 40 is for me to clean so I turn it on when I go in
turn it out when I close the coop at night
