Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Was he a hatchery bird? Comb is wrong and body shape is off.

I hope you find someone to take him. If he's nice there is no reason he can't be a flock rooster at a pet home.

I have to say that you take good pictures for sexing and showing off a bird. So many people take them from a distance in dim lighting.

Morning or afternoon guess he is hatchery or out of hatchery birds? the girls are my 4 silky need to have dry days then they get to enjoy their tractor safe from our outside cats.

He is mostly silky kinda funny they have a camera gene I believe I have two cockerel here just now on is ameracauna the other is black copper marans

So the manager at Coastal called me this morning. Very apologetic and I could even hear the frustration in her voice when I told her what went on. The cashier broke a lot of their policies, not to mention retail common sense.

I've worked retail. I give them a lot of leeway. But when that utter cow poop and snideness came out of the cashier's mouth, I'd had it.

Maybe because I didn't even want anything out of them out of the incident, it will be taken very seriously.

Oh well. I'll be buying animal food over at Wilco for the foreseeable future. Still a bit angry about how I was treated.

Ok. I'm done ranting now. Sorry for dumping it on everyone here.

Yup, he's hatchery. It makes sense then that he looks...not like what I would expect a silkie rooster to look like. He is a nice bird, although he has pecked my hand a couple of times. He is very photogenic .

I love how silkies pose for the camera. Makes taking pictures so easy.

Just take this guy as an example. I don't really handle him, but he just stood on the rock even after I stepped away.

I have a white Silkie rooster (possibly 2, but I'm just focusing on the 1 right now) that I need to rehome.

He is not show quality at all. I'm really not familiar with Silkies; he seems quite large to me and I was expecting he would be smaller. He is 4 months old, and just started lightly crowing.

He does not have any feathers at all on his feet. But other than that, I think he is quite the charmer. He has totally become "the man" and takes his job of watching over the pullets very seriously. If we could have roosters, I would keep him.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know would like him. I am not asking for any $$ at all, he is free. I will be posting this on the re-homing forum as well.

I just noticed all the hardware cloth you have. You really did that right.

So I left the silkie pen open and allowed the two inside open pens to range on the grass for a bit. Partridge hens blend into the mud. I walked past one three times before I saw the movement .
