Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

4 little quail peeps this morning and I see 1 more working to hatch. They have big feet for such a tiny bird. I can’t believe any hatched after the mail man delivered the eggs to the mail box after I had asked them not to. The eggs had sat in my mail box from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at 33 to 38 degrees that day As I wasn’t home. At least I will have a few to play with.

I also was recommended a place to get quail eggs by another BYC member. It is James Marie Farms, I called and talked to the nicest guy you could imagine he took a lot of time talking to me. They deal in the 10’s of thousands of eggs but do sell smaller batches. I ordered 30 jumbo browns and 30 jumbo recessive white quail eggs he combined them in the order so they cost less. Then he told me that if I didn’t get at least a 50% hatch they would replace the order if I payed the shipping, who does that? I couldn’t believe it.

Sounds like an awesome breeder.

Sick chickens update:

We are on day 3 of corrid and vetrx. The girls seem to be doing awesome. The barred who was the worst off seems to have out back on some weight. None of the girls have runny poop. They are also not dark. So my question is...when the treatment time is up how do I reintroduce them to the coop? It has gotten significantly colder outside.

How many other birds do you have out there I guess I thought you where medicating your entire coop ?

Just got home went and picked up chicken feed and pizza :drool the pizza is for me though and of corse Wally dog. I have 8 quail peeps now there is one in the incubator that’s still wet I think I will move to the brooder when it drys as long as I don’t see anymore piped. I have read that you don’t want to leave quail chicks in the Bator as long as chicken chicks like 12 hours max not sure if that’s true or not.
