We got going on a bad spot here it was always nothing growing leaves from a tree in the front your littering then I got the bright idea to use weed block sat like that 2 years then I went oyster shell so 4 bags will need 2 or 3 to finish but looks 100 times better

Looked like rain this afternoon when I left, but I doubt it. The wind has been howling around here for the last week (Gusts upwards of 35+ mph). I have been working in the hen house getting it secured and checking and double checking. I see where my drafts are but they are actually really minor drafts and easily fixed. I was surprised by the lack of wind in the hen house. (It is under some trees and by a fence so it is pretty well protected). My girls just hit 2 months and I HAVE to get them out of the house this weekend :fl (thankfully I started with a HUGE brooder set-up in a spare room). I can get the hen house finished and then work on the run as we go-the run is dog kennel panels and our existing fence but we have to clean the area.

Every time I think I am going to be able to finish things up something happens (I get sick, my partner messes up his back, nieces graduation, co-worker gets sick and I can't take a day off). They were supposed to be out 3 weeks ago. I had to have a discussion with myself and remind myself I need them out but I need to make sure they are going to be in a safe place.

Luckily, I "cleaned" it to put the chicken in but I left the existing dust in place. I heard they would create dust so I figured I would just clean the dust out once. And I agree....OMG the amount of fine dust they create is stunning. :eek:
 
I had that happen with broodys and chicks in a dog cage. I couldn’t believe it but a Badger got his big claws through the bars and killed and ate them all last year in my barn. Just imagine wat a raccoon could do, I’m happy to say there has been no sign of coons or weasels around here I have been very surprised I was also very surprised to have a big ass Badger take up residence in my barn took two weeks to get rid of him 7 dead chickens later.

I have one coop with a floor have dirt floors in the other 2 certain glee watching them do dirt baths inside in the rain my big girls will need their coop replaced eventually looking at home depot metal 10 x 12 no floor tie them together replace the doors but will have a extra side only need one man door hardware cloth again
