Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Do you think laying a reptile heating pad under the waterer or wrapping it around the waterer would be enough to keep water available thru winter?

Any other inexpensive and rather easy diy heated waterer ideas for ducks?

I'm thinking the light bulb in the cinder block or Terra cota pot might be what we end up doing but I'm looking for other ideas that are low to the ground.

aquarium heaters keep the nipples flowing have no issues but we have not had allot of hard freeze either Hey have speckled sussex 5 coming in on Friday

No electricity 100 feet out to the 5 silkie pens. Running something to the large fowl pen is just barely doable but not worth it if I'm already hauling anyway.

Ive thought about setting up solar and a shed for batteries.

I was just thinking about this same topic today. I have to figure out how to keep water from freezing in a powerless coop 125ft from the house. I used 3 5gal buckets with nipples this year. Best thing I ever did. No more poopy water, thank goodness!

@penny1960 Does your aquarium heaters successfully keep the water and nipples in 5gal buckets from freezing?

I may have to try it out then! A fish store up here is having a huge sale this weekend. May have to snag a couple on sale.
I don’t need any more birds. I hatched a bunch of Wheaten Ameraucanas this year and I’ve been drowning in cockerels. Ran about 70% males this year. Anyone need a new rooster?
