Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I am new to forums bc I never liked them. I am also a new farmhand raising chickens on a crash course. The owner had some life thing take his time for years and then we connected. I need a friendly community since I have nobody to confide and grow with here yet. I'm excited for the forum and ultra happy I was refered to a local thread. I have 48 laying hens from roadies to barnies. We have just acquired la fleche to breed. I have 15 chicks now. I saved a rooster from butchering to set in hen house and that was way AWESOME. He takes care of the hens very well, but he got frostbite so he sleeps next to me for now, and besides the 3 turds a night he is very well mannered. In the am he wants outand don't care if I feed him. He walked up to me and kept walking bullish at me while yapping something like we are going NOW. Gave him a rub on frostbite with berts bees wax and he is already doing better. Hens try to peck it is why I pull him a couple times to warm up and treat. That way he is stronger/ better. Sad bc he in pain and he tells me. He trusts me too and I just wanted to share bc I'm lucky to have a smartish friendly rooster that is a top rooster from his butchered flock. I hopethisforum helps me focus/ share/ and be a better person when it come to chickens and the community. I honestly want a peacock for fun and such but that wont happen bc of neighbors. Just getting started here and glad to be here. Thanks, JAR from Nettles Farm Lummi Island

Hi! :frow You are very welcome here! What a huge responsibility you took on all at once. Feel free to ask anything. If we don't have the answer we'll tell you where best to post it to get a good answer.
I was deep in depression last couple years and when I met Riley he said help me help you. We both needed each other. 2 weeks in he told me he dont touch chickens no more they count on me. I never thought a chicken could do so much to a person. They gave me more than I can give them, so I thank y'all a ton. We are a farm, but we are only sell to friends and such right now. Its just us chickens
