Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

No they never have bred to any standard nor claim to just saying if anything has to do with a hatchery it is unknown heritage

So I need to mess with my incubator temp again. Chick hatched 4 days early. Haven't had that with the incubator before, just with Furnace the hen. Granted silkies hatch earlier than large fowl. Mine under hens usually hatch around day 19 instead of 21.

I kidnapped a broody hen and put her in the bathroom. I want to make sure she takes to the chick well and the kennel inside is the fastest way. I was going to move her to the broody coop in anticipation of giving her the chick around Tuesday. Then there was chirping from the incubator and a change of plans.

Seems she just gave up was great till yesterday morning or seemed as so ..
She had her head down eyes closed when BF went and opened the coop ..
I went up a bit later she was still on the roost .. I use tables built from pallets to height of the birds in it in each coop..
I brought her in the house placed her in towel loose on her she layed there opened her eyes one time like to say I am done flapped her wings and passed .
She is the second lost one earlier this summer during the heat ..
So sorry Penny! :hugs :hugs

I seem to have a sick hen right now too...I've been mostly gone for the past week and when I went out this morning she was just standing around! I caught her...she's not very friendly...and examined her crop, it was empty! When my husband gets home I will check her out more closely...she's a hard one to hang onto!

Gave tomatos that has sat too long so all the birds got some.. Made sure that the two in the tractor have shade and they do ...
Sure hope the the bird is alright Rene let me know
Thank you Penny! 💞 I went out earlier & she was in the nesting box...she usually lays a chocolate colored egg, there were 2 darkish eggs & a white one...none of my hens lay a white egg & this is the second one that I've found in the last couple of days, but no chocolate colored...I just don't know if she laid any of them. I went to check again & I saw her getting some water, but I don't know if she has eaten...so hopefully she's feeling better!

Moved the carrier with mama and baby back out to her silkie pen. It's only been two days so no issues. The rooster in there offered the chick some food when I crumbled a boiled egg for them.

I'm pretty sure that the chick is a 3/4 silkie. It doesn't quite look like a full silkie normally does. Nothing wrong there. Tells me exactly who the mother and father are, and that I mixed up my egg numbering.
