The front of our henhouse is dug out because we hoped it would help the flooding, but it is one big puddle, pretty much up past my ankles.

But the rain here might stop at 9pm, so...crossing my fingers!

Really? It sure doesn’t look like it’s going to quit anytime soon here but stranger things have happened I guess.

Well, to make you feel better, we have a couple more flooded spots
Makes the ducks happy though!

We had a board in front of the hen house, on top of a pallet, and we dug out enough dirt to make almost like a flood drain, but the flat board we use to walk on, so our feet dont fall through the pallets, was floating!
So, when we stepped on it, water came pouring over our feet!

We have too many spots that flood between me and the silkie pens. Well I could walk around most of them. I have raised steps at the first gate to prevent me killing the grass and making a quagmire. I put down straw at the gate for each seperate pen for same reason.

The plus side is that rats get flooded out at this time of the year. Makes it easier for the dogs and me to find and kill them.

I wear boots out to all the chicken pens. My tendency to stomp first and visit the ER later for the bite means hubby will harass me if I wear anything else or go barefoot.

I am not a huge sock wearer... I usually go around the house barefoot...

No not frostbite. It's the rat bite/tooth issue that my family doesn't forget. I wear shoes usually if it's below 32°. I have still been known to go out barefoot in the snow for a quick trip. If it's warm enough for the hose to be hooked up, barefoot is sometimes easier with mud.

Oh, okay!
I did go out the other night without socks, even though the grass is wet and cold... and what is worse, is when I go out with no shoes but socks, poor, poor socks...
When in the house, mainly just bare feet doesn't bother me.
