Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The nice clouds kept it cool in the 60s until the sun burned through around 12:30. Made me happy for keeping the house cool while canning. I'd rather not have to dig out the big outdoor gas camp stove. It's a big, heavy, 2 burner thing that is spaced widely enough for 2 canners to run at once and sturdy enough to not care about the weight.

This thing is heavy. No way it's good for camping no matter what it's advertised as. It needs a normal size propane tank to run it as well. I bought it for canning outside.

Mom used one of those little Coleman white gas stoves when I was growing up. Or we cooked in the campfire. The stove worked best for frying the fish we caught. There wasn't a lot of room in the old Chevy Blazer with 3 kids, the tent, and gear. Even less if we had to take the International Scout. 4 wheel drive was needed to get to most of the camp sites we visited.

Up until I graduated we'd still go a lot. Hubby even got to go on a trip after we got married. Then parents bought a cabin in the mountains. That way Dad could see deer and elk and get away from most people.

*looks outside window* Well we're almost like that here and we have the convenience of town if needed. And our doctor is only about 40 minutes away. Some days I could do with less deer and elk though.

With the crazy heat, how do I keep my pullets cool?? They were panting the other day when it was in the 80s. They have a covered run and a large enclosed coop, it is a titch cooler in the coop during the hot days. It's an old sheep stall that we just enclosed some of the exterior and left the rest open. The coop 'wall' is just chicken wire, so tons of ventilation.
