28 weeks is average for the ameraucanas I've had. Silkies can be even longer depending on when they hatched. I prefer late summer/autumn hatched silkies so they will actually lay around 28 weeks. I've had spring hatched ones go a year. Or the occasional brat that goes broody before ever laying.

Yeah, I know what you mean by the lingering symptoms..our whole family got hit over Christmas break, and I took 3 weeks for the cough and congestion to subside, and just now getting the last 15% of my taste and smell back.
My Welsummers took 28 wks to lay. The ISAs ranged from 16 - 20.

Yay, drier weather! But the fog....been hard to drive in at times, and it seems to be lingering today.

Question - are there varying degrees of molting? Of my 8, 4 had a hard molt. My ISAs and Golden comets don't seem to have molted. They are all 1.5 years old the end of the month. I've been getting an average of 2-3 eggs a day since October.

I have no less than than 6 extraroosters that will leave on the 24th.

Yes, some birds molt very lightly overall or over an extended period of time, and it may not be obvious looking at them that they're molting. Others blow out huge patches of feathers in a very short period of time.

Some of the girls' tail feathers are looking rather raggedy. Hope they'll get shiny, pretty new ones soon. They have lost some feathers here and there. Yup, the 4 had blowouts.

Take them to Auction in Chehalis Cole Creek Auction they have a website same name next one is set for the 24th ..
Discovered late I have two cockerel in the banty coop.
One is frizzle the other is silkie .. It surprised me thought she was partridge in color, took off in size and crows.
