She is a gorgeous girl! She was just messing with me - she preened a bit and they are going back into her wing - bizzare!
Sounds pretty normal. The younger birds won't be fully accepted as part of the flock until they start laying.well our newest chicks are now 4 months old and have just started free ranging in our back yard. the older chickens don't let them get to far out in the yard before they chase them back into the chicken run!! How long until they all become friends?? They do still sleep in different coops every once in a while one of the older chickens will go into their coop to sleep but she is not on the top of the pecking order is this normal?

I had my first of the newbies roost with the big girls, it will happen.Sounds pretty normal. The younger birds won't be fully accepted as part of the flock until they start laying.
