Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Today was nice, weatherwise. No rain and 66 degrees. I pampered my chicks, feeding them mash made from chick starter dust, some chopped up leftover chicken thigh meat (they totally loved it!), and I plucked a couple dandelion blossoms, plus a handful of daisy blossoms and leaves and threw those in too.

I wonder if the protein percentage of the chick starter feed is just the minimum they can get by on. The way they tore into that chicken thigh meat tells me they are craving more protein in a big way.

Good morning Washingtonians! Hope everyone is having a great day. Particularly, west siders in the rainy zone…I am looking for solutions to wet chicken food. Does anyone have a favorite hack? Should I just put one of a few hen-head-size nozzles on a 5gal bucket? Should I just give in and build a cover for the run?Our run is mostly uncovered (with covered “clutter”). They do not seem to like wet food even though we started them on fermented wet scratch food on purpose. Thanks for any help
Wet food and wet runs. Yuck! We finally bought some super heavy duty tarps and covered ours. Now the runs doesn't get muddy, stays dry and relatively odor free, and food is in a treadle feeder, so it stays dry too, and has gotten rid of rats and mice that used to tunnel in the run and eat at night. Hubby said he wants to make a more permanent roof. Note: metal roofing sweats on cold days, and make the ground under it wet.
