Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I can walk around in the run, but not the coop. The run has an 8 foot ceiling and is 10'x11'. I plan to add some big tree branches and other things for the chickens to explore to keep them occupied. I'm guessing they'll probably roost in the run overnight and use the coop for mainly for laying their eggs. Just have to wait and see. The run will be secure so there won't be any danger if they decide to hang out there at night.

The new roost is challenging becaus it's a 4 inch diameter section of a madrona branch. It's slick as heck and they have a hard time latching on.
For better grip could it be rough sanded?
The garden beds look good.

We had problems with the wasps too last year. I was hoping it was a one year deal.
We had yellow jackets, the underground ones.

I just read that a mixture of one or two tablespoons of Dawn dish detergent in a cup of water is effective at killing wasps (and any other insects). I might give it a try if they get too bad, though the swallows have been here again today helping out.

I've been working on the run today. I have the second front post in place and attached the front base board.
Yes, soap water on a spray bottle kills them. To kill ground nests, get some fine netting. Have liquid dish detergent and a garden hose ready. When it's dark, or cold, and they have gone in, place the netting over the hole, squirt a bunch of detergent in it, and shoot a lot of water to thoroughly drown the nest, which can go deep. Put weights on the netting. If you see more come out the next day, repeat.
