Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We get deer and elk here. There's a raccoon that lives out in the woods. It doesn't come anywhere near the buildings. I see footprints sometimes. It's the damn beavers I really want to eat. They keep cutting down my trees that I want to keep.
You know, beaver tail is a delicacy. I'd try it if I had a chance...
We drove into Longview and at about Castle Rock it was pouring. Not sure if it was here in Toledo. Much needed rain anyway.
I've driven through downpours on I-5 just north of Castle Rock many times. Maybe it's the lay of the land that funnels storms into that area.
DH was encouraging me to paint again here are my pics today...

Very nice! Are those custom built frames?

I didn't get around to building a wooden nest box for my chickens, but I did find a suitable size cardboard box. I filled it halfway with woodchips and peat moss and dropped a ceramic egg into it. I put it in the spot the pullet laid her egg this morning. Well no, I guess she's a hen now because she laid an egg.

Maybe there'll be another breakfast egg there for me tomorrow morning.

Day two of laying. Two eggs, three yolks! I weighed them today. 35.8 and 42.5 grams. Pretty small, but I guess that's normal for young pullets.

Wait five minutes and it'll start raining most of the year here
Here's the definitive guide to PNW weather!
If you cannot see Mt Rainier, it's raining.
If you can see a cap over Mt Rainier, it will be raining in a couple hours.
If you can see Mt Rainier and it's perfectly clear, it will be raining tomorrow!

Picked my first zucchini. Not sure of the variety becaused it was in a mixed variety seed packet. Pulled up a turnip, but looks like some kind of bug or worm was chewing on it. Probably has a worm or two tunneling into it. And got egg #4 this morning. It was on the run floor, not in the nest box. And tiny. Only weighed 17 grams.

And my chickens now have access to grit and oyster shells. Put together some dispenser boxes yesterday.
