Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

DH is stuck on the freeway. Been on the way home from Chehalis since 12:30, 5 hours so far. Most of that time has been spent between Rt 12 and the Toledo/Winlock exit. There is an accident somewhere in Toledo on the I-5 and it must be fatal. They are routing everyone off at the Toledo/Winlock exit and making them all go right to Military Rd, which is headed to Winlock, so he will be taking the long way home even after he gets off the freeway.

I heard the first mess on I-5 was near Toledo and involved 20 semi's and a few cars. No fatalities but 6 people transported to 3 area hospitals. Must have had to travel quite aways to get to 3 of them.
When that first happened some semi tried going around it by going up Rush Road to 603 and got stuck on the hill closing it down. Hours later I heard he was still stuck because all the tow trucks were clearing I-5.
Couple hours after I-5 opened up it was shut down again. One direction at the Toutle River bridge and the other direction at the Cowlitz River bridge. What a mess.
I work in South King County but live in East Grays Harbor County. Wife and I carpool to work. When I saw the snow had moved north to Winlock I left early and picked her up. Didn't beat the snow home but the roads were still fine.

Had no idea. In the end it took him 6 hrs to travel 4 miles!!! And no way off the fwy at that point. But luckily they didn't route him by way of Winlock. He was able to turn left. Then he was on his way out 505 and had to stop to help someone who had slid sideways in his BMW. Who would drive a BMW in the snow???

We stopped and got gas at the Chehalis Reservation and there was a guy very carefully pulling out in a newer Mustang. Good luck!
We only got 3/4" here but our driveway is a 20% slope and the trusty Subaru barely made it up it. Made it up in the past with a foot of snow but this small amount just makes a mess of everything.

I think because it was such a wet snow. DH said even when they were stopped on the freeway, trying to creep forward a few feet his truck would lose traction. On the way out here there is a hillside 2 lane road that's windy so you can't see far ahead. He took it slow because it is often icy. There were 4 trucks that slid into the ditch on that little road.

And by this afternoon it will be up to 40 and start melting all this away. And just like that, it's like it never happened. Odd weather pattern.
