Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm making some candied tomatoes to go on black cod for dinner. If you have some early tomatoes like I do, this is a great way to use them.

Slice in half, lay them cut side up on cookie sheet, drizzle olive oil over and lightly salt them, then bake at 325 for 2 hours. They can be saved in the refrigerator immersed in olive oil, just like sun-dried tomatoes. They turn out really sweet and bursting with flavor. Really better than sun-dried.

I posted the recipe on the Whatcha Making For Dinner thread, but this is basically it.

The littles are doing great, they are out with the Big Girls in the afternoon and no one is chasing them and only a few pecks now and then. Going to get some all flock tomorrow to get ready to keep them all together but I like to feed the littles by them self to make sure they get the starter grower feed as much as they want and they have no desire to go to the big coop at night so I just keep their food and water in their little coop. But they do like to try and come out to eat the big girl feed so I think I'll switch that up so I don't have to worry about them eating the wrong feed. I have lots of egg shells and oyster shells that I can put out for the big girls. Big'ums is gonna be a good roo once he grows up he already has the littles follow him around. Where ever he goes they go!! And has bucked up to the big girls when they get to close to the littles or try to pick on them. Saw him fluff up and make his neck feathers stick out like a daggers :woot

What a great little cockerel you have! Great job on the integration. Sometimes it just works. No drama in mine this year either. Happy about that.

I picked up 4 EE chicks from the feed store Sunday. They look about a week old. Tried putting them with a mild tempered silkie hen. They wouldn't listen to her and she got frustrated and gave up today.

So put the quarter silkie in with them. She's more forceful and doesn't take no for an answer. She's always wrangled her chicks well. She shoved them under her for bed. So good start on that.

So great to have a hen raise the little ones for you!!! You all make me feel like I need silkies. 🤔
